The Association
Contact the Association
Four addresses, each with a purpose, so a question reaches the person who can answer it. What the Association can help with is set out plainly here, along with what it cannot.
Which address to use
Everything below reaches a person rather than a queue. Use the one that matches the subject — a correction sent to the complaints address waits behind a process it does not belong in.
- info@privatelendingassociation.co.za
- General enquiries, membership, partnership. Anything about joining, listing, partnership tiers, speaking to the Association, or a question that does not fit below.
- editor@privatelendingassociation.co.za
- Corrections and editorial. Something on this site is wrong, out of date or misleading. Name the page and the issue. Material errors are corrected and noted on the page; minor ones are fixed without a note.
- complaints@privatelendingassociation.co.za
- Complaints about an organisation or practitioner. A complaint about somebody listed by the Association. The complaints process, what it can reach and what it cannot, is published in full.
The Association operates from South Africa and answers in English. There is no telephone line: a question about what an arrangement involves deserves an answer in writing that you can keep and check, and a phone call leaves neither party a record.
What the Association cannot do
Stated here rather than discovered after you have written. None of this is a reluctance to help — each one is either licensed work the Association does not do, or a power it genuinely does not have.
- It cannot advise you on an arrangement. Not whether it is suitable, not whether the rate is fair, not whether to proceed. The Association publishes education, frameworks, standards and public records. It does not recommend an arrangement to a particular person, assess whether one suits their circumstances, or act as an intermediary — that is advice on a financial product, and it is licensed work.
- It cannot recover your money, order redress, fine anybody, compel evidence or stop anyone from trading. Those powers belong to regulators and to the courts, and complaints and review names which body holds which.
- It cannot vouch for anybody beyond exactly what a published record says. A listing, a membership and a partnership are three different things, and none of them is a verification.
- It cannot find you a loan. The Association is not a lender and makes no introductions.
Keeping in touch
The Association publishes rather than broadcasts. If you would rather be told when something changes than check back, there is a list — and the terms it is offered on are the same ones the code of conduct asks of everybody else.
If you want to take part
Membership is open to individuals and organisations. Applying for verification is a separate process with published criteria and a published fee. Partnership is commercial and confers no standing in verification. Which of those fits, and what each costs, is set out on those pages rather than negotiated by email.
This page explains how something works. It is not financial, legal or tax advice, it takes no account of your circumstances, and nothing here is a recommendation to lend. Private lending places capital at risk.
