Verified Organisation Register

Entities assessed against the published requirements for a stated organisational role and scope. Verification is about the entity — not about a listing, not about membership, and not about the people who work there.

Four things this is not

  • Not a listing. A listing records who an organisation is and what role it says it performs. It is free, and it is not an assessment.
  • Not membership. Membership records participation in the Association and commitment to its code of conduct.
  • Not partnership. Partnership records financial, technical or educational support, and cannot be exchanged for a status.
  • Not produced by a person. An organisation is not verified because an employee or representative holds Verified Practitioner status. Different subject, different assessment.

The register

Verified Organisation — assessed by the Association against the published requirements for the stated organisational role and scope. Verification does not guarantee the performance of any loan or arrangement.

No organisation has been verified yet. The register fills as organisations apply and pass.

How an organisation gets here. Apply for an assessment of a stated organisational role and scope, pay the published fee, and pass it. The decision is documented, independently confirmed, and carries an expiry date and annual surveillance.

01 — What is assessedThe assessment

Scope-specific, against the published criteria for the organisational role, and depending on that role it may cover:

  • Legal identity and ownership
  • Governance
  • Relevant statutory registrations
  • The operating model
  • Agreements and disclosures
  • Conflicts of interest
  • Marketing representations
  • Handling of client and lender information
  • Administration and servicing controls
  • Complaints procedures
  • Use of third parties
  • Security and repayment processes
  • Ongoing monitoring requirements

An assessment fee, then annual surveillance. The fee pays for the assessment and the surveillance regardless of outcome. Carries an expiry date and requires continuing annual surveillance.

02 — Reading an entryWhat every entry shows

Each record carries, on its face:

  • Legal and trading names
  • The assessed role
  • The verification scope
  • The date granted
  • The expiry or next review date
  • The current status
  • Material exclusions and limitations
  • Whether the entity is also an Organisation Member
  • Any verified practitioners associated with it — listed, never inferred

The last two are shown because they are separate facts a reader may want, not because either produces the other. An organisation that is a member and has verified people working in it may still not be a Verified Organisation, and the record will say so.

03 — ApplyingHow an organisation applies

Write to info@privatelendingassociation.co.za stating the organisational role and the models the assessment should cover. That becomes the scope, and the scope appears on the record. The verification methodology sets out the criteria, the evidence required and how a decision is reviewed or withdrawn.
