Published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International. Reuse it, including commercially, including in a product. Attribute the Private Lending Association of South Africa and link to the source. No permission needed and none has to be asked for.
Each file carries its own version, licence and suggested citation inside it, so a copy that travels keeps its provenance. If you build something on this data and it is useful, the Association would like to know — editor@privatelendingassociation.co.za — but you do not need to ask.
Two files are also published for language models and retrieval systems: /llms.txt and /llms-full.txt.
02 — VersioningHow these change
The minor number changes when entries are added or corrected. The major number changes when the shape of the classification changes.
The legal-positions dataset is at version 2.0 for that reason: until 18 September 2026 this site published a single fifteen-model taxonomy that mixed what is financed with what a capital provider holds and who may take part. That produced generalisations which were true of some arrangements and false of others. It was replaced by three separate dimensions, and the change was substantial enough to be a major version rather than a quiet correction.
Where a dataset is corrected, the previous version is not silently overwritten in the record: the change is noted here with its date. See the editorial policy.
