Public registers
Register of Listed Practitioners
Individuals who present private-lending arrangements to the public. Every entry is a listing, not an assessment: it records where the information came from, when it was last checked, and what has not been verified.
Status of every entry
Listed — Verification Pending. The practitioner verification programme opens after the organisation programme, so no practitioner has been assessed. A listing records that a person appears in a source named below, on a stated date. It is not an assessment, an approval or an endorsement, and it says nothing about competence, standing or conduct.
Membership, partnership and verification are separate
Membership indicates participation in the Association. Partnership indicates support provided to the Association. Verification is a separate evidence-based assessment. None automatically confers the others.
What a listing records, and what it does not
| Recorded | Not verified |
|---|---|
| The name and location as they appear in the source | That the person is who the source says they are |
| The source of the information, named and linked | Training, assessment or any qualification |
| The date the entry was last checked against that source | Whether a current agreement with any organisation exists |
| That the person agreed to appear in this register | Standing, complaints history or conduct |
| The status: Listed — Verification Pending | Any authorisation to provide regulated financial services |
The register
No entries published
The Association holds 10 candidate entries drawn from the ProLend consultant directory, reconciled on 17 September 2026. None is published here yet, because appearing in a partner’s own directory is not permission to appear in the Association’s register. Each person is asked first, and entries appear as those permissions are recorded.
Source of information
Entries in this register are drawn from the ProLend consultant directory, the directory maintained by the organisation that contracts these practitioners. The Association does not maintain a competing database of training records or agreements; what it records is the listing, its source and its date. Where an entry is published, the date it was last checked appears on it.
Publication and removal
- A person is asked whether they agree to appear in this register, and that agreement is recorded before anything is published.
- An entry can be corrected or removed at any time, without giving a reason, by writing to editor@privatelendingassociation.co.za. Removal is carried out promptly and is not treated as an adverse finding.
- Anyone may report an entry as inaccurate. Where an entry is wrong it is corrected or removed; where the concern is about conduct rather than accuracy, it is handled under complaints and review.
- Personal information is processed under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013; see the privacy notice.
Checking a practitioner, and checking an arrangement
These are two different checks and the second matters more. A listing says something about where a name appears. It says nothing about where your capital would go.
- Ask which legal entity would receive the capital, and on what terms.
- Ask who grants the credit to the borrower, and whether that party holds registration where the National Credit Act applies to the arrangement — then check the number on the National Credit Regulator’s register.
- If a recommendation or a regulated service is offered, ask under which authorised financial services provider and mandate the person acts, and verify that with the Financial Sector Conduct Authority.
- Read risk and red flags before the meeting, not after it.
Common questions
- Has the Association verified the practitioners in this register?
- Not yet. The practitioner programme opens after the organisation programme, so every entry here carries the status Listed — Verification Pending: it records that a person appears in a source the Association names, on a date the Association states, and nothing further. One organisation has been verified; no practitioner has.
- Why is the register empty?
- Because appearing in a partner's own directory is not permission to appear here. This is a separate publication, on a different site, with a different purpose, and the Association records a person's permission before publishing them. Entries appear as that permission is recorded.
- What is a private-lending practitioner?
- An individual who presents private-lending arrangements to the public — explaining how an arrangement works, working through a scenario, and introducing a reader to a platform or provider. A practitioner is usually paid a commission on business placed.
- Does a listing authorise someone to give financial advice?
- No. A consultant's title, Association membership or directory listing does not authorise the provision of regulated financial advice or intermediary services. If a person makes a recommendation or provides a regulated service, ask under which authorised financial services provider and mandate they act, and verify that information with the FSCA.
This page explains how something works. It is not financial, legal or tax advice, it takes no account of your circumstances, and nothing here is a recommendation to lend. Private lending places capital at risk.
