Public registers

Public registers

Two registers and the methodology that governs them. Every entry states its source, the date it was last checked and what has not been verified — because a register is only useful if a reader can see how much weight it carries.

Current state of the registers

One organisation has completed verification under methodology version 1.0, and its record publishes the scope, the evidence, the limitations and the review date. Every other entry is recorded as Verification Pending. A reader can therefore see who is listed, where the information came from, and exactly what has and has not been established — rather than being asked to trust a badge on its own.

Membership, partnership and verification are separate

Membership indicates participation in the Association. Partnership indicates support provided to the Association. Verification is a separate evidence-based assessment. None automatically confers the others.

The registers

The statuses a record can hold

A key to the statuses that exist in the methodology. None of them is currently held by any organisation or practitioner: every record on this site reads Verification Pending.

Verified Organisation

The organisation has completed the Association's published checks for organisations, and the record below shows what was checked and when.

Verified Practitioner

The individual has completed the Association's published checks for practitioners, and the record below shows what was checked and when.

Verification Pending

Checks have not been completed. Either the verification programme is not yet open to this category, or an application is in progress. Nothing has been verified by the Association.

Verification Expired

Checks were completed previously but have passed their review date and have not been renewed. Treat the record as out of date.

Verification Suspended

A previously issued verification has been withdrawn pending review. The reason is recorded on the profile where the Association is able to publish it.

Membership, partnership and verification

Partnership tier

Describes a commercial or strategic relationship with the Association — who supports the work, and how. It is disclosed so a reader can weigh it.

It is not an assessment of anything, and it cannot be used to obtain a verification.

Verification status

Describes whether the Association’s published checks have been completed on a named organisation or person, what was checked, and when.

It is not regulatory approval, and it is not a guarantee about any arrangement.

An organisation may hold all three at once and each is recorded separately, because each means something different. Membership and partnership are disclosed so that a reader can weigh them; neither is capable of producing a verification status.

Corrections and removal

Any entry can be corrected or removed on request, without charge and without giving a reason, by writing to editor@privatelendingassociation.co.za. Where a concern is about conduct rather than the accuracy of a record, it is handled under complaints and review.

Common questions

Has the Association verified anyone?
One organisation: ProLend, verified on 17 September 2026 under methodology version 1.0, with the scope, evidence, limitations and review date published on its profile. Every other entry carries a status of Verification Pending, which records that an organisation or person appears in a named source on a stated date — nothing more.
What is the difference between being listed and being verified?
A listing records that something was published about a party, where that information came from, and when it was last checked. Verification is a separate evidence-based assessment against published criteria, carried out by the Association. Nothing on this site is currently verified.
Educational, not advice

This page explains how something works. It is not financial, legal or tax advice, it takes no account of your circumstances, and nothing here is a recommendation to lend. Private lending places capital at risk.
