Partners and the partner register

Partnership and verification are two different things, and this page keeps them apart. A tier says who supports the Association's work. A verification status says which published checks have been completed on an organisation, and when. Both appear on every partner profile, with the limits of each stated.

The Association works with private-lending platforms, administrators and professional service providers that support transparent, properly structured participation in the market. A partner profile is an Association record: what the organisation does, what it does not do, how enquiries are handled, who administers the underlying arrangements, and exactly what has and has not been checked.

Partnership tier

Describes a commercial or strategic relationship with the Association — who supports the work, and how. It is disclosed so a reader can weigh it.

It is not an assessment of anything, and it cannot be used to obtain a verification.

Verification status

Describes whether the Association’s published checks have been completed on a named organisation or person, what was checked, and when.

It is not regulatory approval, and it is not a guarantee about any arrangement.

Membership, partnership and verification are separate

Membership indicates participation in the Association. Partnership indicates support provided to the Association. Verification is a separate evidence-based assessment. None automatically confers the others.

Marketing and enquiry platform connecting individuals and entities to structured private-lending arrangements.

A South African private-lending marketing and enquiry platform helping individuals and entities understand and connect with selected structured private-lending opportunities.

Partnership does not constitute regulatory approval or automatic verification under the Association's verification framework.

The partnership tiers

Founding Gold Partner

Founding Gold Partner

The organisation provided the funding or operational support that allowed the Association to be established, and holds the senior partnership tier. The relationship is disclosed on every page where the organisation appears.

It does not mean the organisation has been verified, that its arrangements have been assessed, or that the Association recommends it. Verification is a separate process with its own published criteria and its own badge.

Gold Partner

Gold Partner

The organisation has a commercial partnership with the Association, disclosed on its partner profile.

It does not mean the organisation has been verified, and it buys no standing in the verification process.

Supporting Partner

Supporting Partner

The organisation supports the Association's educational or standards work.

It does not mean the organisation has been verified.

Education Partner

Education Partner

The organisation or institution contributes teaching, research or review capacity to the Association's material.

It does not mean the organisation has been verified, and it does not give it editorial control.

The verification statuses

Verified Organisation
The organisation has completed the Association's published checks for organisations, and the record below shows what was checked and when.
Verified Practitioner
The individual has completed the Association's published checks for practitioners, and the record below shows what was checked and when.
Verification Pending
Checks have not been completed. Either the verification programme is not yet open to this category, or an application is in progress. Nothing has been verified by the Association.
Verification Expired
Checks were completed previously but have passed their review date and have not been renewed. Treat the record as out of date.
Verification Suspended
A previously issued verification has been withdrawn pending review. The reason is recorded on the profile where the Association is able to publish it.

The criteria behind each status, the evidence required and the review cycle are set out in the verification methodology. The conduct expected of a listed organisation is in the code of conduct, and complaints and review explains what happens when something goes wrong.

Becoming a partner

Adopted

Adopted by the founding members on 17 September 2026 under the Association’s constitution (PLA-GOV-001), and maintained under it. Amendments are recorded with the date of the resolution that made them.

An organisation seeking to be listed will be expected to show:

  1. Its legal identity, registration number and the trading names it uses.
  2. Its role in the private-lending process — platform, credit provider, administrator, issuer, professional adviser — described precisely rather than generally.
  3. The regulatory registrations that role requires, where any are required, and the numbers needed to check them on a public register.
  4. How client money and client data are handled, and by whom.
  5. What it publishes about risk, and whether that material meets the disclosure standards.
  6. A complaints route that a member of the public can actually use.
  7. Its agreement to the code of conduct.

Expressions of interest go to info@privatelendingassociation.co.za. A partnership tier will never be a route to a verification status, and an organisation that declines a check will be recorded as having declined it.

Educational, not advice

This page explains how something works. It is not financial, legal or tax advice, it takes no account of your circumstances, and nothing here is a recommendation to lend. Private lending places capital at risk.

Common questions

What does it mean to be a partner of the Association?
A partnership tier describes a commercial or strategic relationship with the Association — who supports the work and how. It is disclosed on the partner's profile so that a reader can weigh it. It is not an assessment of the organisation, it is not an endorsement of anything it offers, and it cannot be used to obtain a verification.
Does paying for a higher tier get you a stronger trust badge?
No. Partnership tiers and verification statuses are separate systems, maintained separately, and the site is built so that one cannot imply the other. Verification is granted only against the published criteria, and a partner that fails a check is recorded as failing it regardless of tier.
Is a partner's product approved by the Association?
No. The Association does not approve, endorse or assess any lending product, arrangement or opportunity. It is not a regulator and does not licence anything. A partner profile describes what an organisation does and what has been checked about the organisation itself.
