ProLend

A South African private-lending marketing and enquiry platform helping individuals and entities understand and connect with selected structured private-lending opportunities.

Partnership does not constitute regulatory approval or automatic verification under the Association's verification framework.

A partnership tier describes a relationship with the Association. A verification status describes whether published checks were completed. They are separate, and one never implies the other. How verification works

Role in the ecosystem

Marketing and enquiry platform connecting individuals and entities to structured private-lending arrangements.

ProLend is a South African private-lending marketing and distribution platform. It trades as a sole proprietorship rather than as a company, so there is no company registration number; the legal person behind the trading name is its proprietor, and an agreement is concluded with that person. That is a material difference from dealing with a juristic entity, and it is recorded here for that reason rather than left for a reader to discover.

Relationship with the Association

The Private Lending Association of South Africa was established with the support of ProLend, its Founding Gold Partner. The Association publishes its own educational standards, verification criteria and disclosures.

ProLend holds the Founding Gold Partner tier. The organisation provided the funding or operational support that allowed the Association to be established, and holds the senior partnership tier. The relationship is disclosed on every page where the organisation appears. It does not mean the organisation has been verified, that its arrangements have been assessed, or that the Association recommends it. Verification is a separate process with its own published criteria and its own badge.

The Association receives no commission, referral fee or payment for an enquiry, introduction or placement made through ProLend, and ProLend has no role in editorial decisions about what this site publishes — including what it publishes about risk. The test applied to every page is whether it would still be credible with ProLend’s name removed.

What ProLend does

  • Publishes plain-English explanations of the private-lending arrangements it distributes.
  • Operates indicative calculators that model what a stated rate would produce.
  • Trains and contracts a network of private-lending consultants, and publishes their profiles.
  • Receives enquiries and routes them to a consultant who works through a reader's own numbers.
  • Provided the support required to establish the Association, as its Founding Gold Partner.

What ProLend does not do

  • It is not the lender. Lending is administered by a registered credit provider, and the credit agreement is between that provider and the borrower.
  • It is not a bank and does not take deposits.
  • It does not guarantee returns, repayment or the return of capital.
  • It holds no separate editorial approval or veto over what this site publishes, including what it publishes about risk.
  • It does not decide who is verified. The Association's verification criteria are published and applied by the Association.

Pathways it supports

  • Rand-denominated, prime-linked lending to South African community schemes, secured against arrear levies.
  • Hard-currency fixed-return notes issued offshore, in pounds, dollars or euros.

Both are explained, without reference to any provider, in how private lending works and local versus offshore. A reader who understands those two pages is in a position to judge what is being offered to them by anyone.

How enquiries are handled

An enquiry made through ProLend is routed to one of its contracted consultants, who works through the reader's own circumstances before any documentation is issued. The Association does not receive, hold or process those enquiries, and receives no payment for them.

Who administers the underlying arrangements

ProLend states that BC Funding Solutions is the contracting credit provider and holds NCR registration. This information remains Verification Pending until the Association has independently checked the supporting evidence.

The local arrangements ProLend distributes are administered by BC Funding Solutions (Pty) Ltd, a registered credit provider whose registration the Association has confirmed on the National Credit Regulator's public register. The offshore notes are issued by Quality Group and are denominated in pounds, dollars and euros. Quality Group is an offshore issuer rather than a South African credit provider, so the National Credit Act does not apply to it and no NCRCP number exists or is required — an absence that is correct for that role, not a gap. Confirming a counterparty's registration yourself, before committing capital, remains the most useful check any reader can run.

The check to run yourself

Ask which legal entity would receive your capital, which party grants the credit to the borrower, and whether the National Credit Act applies to that agreement. Where it does, the NCRCP number is public and checkable on the National Credit Regulator’s register in two minutes. That check applies to every counterparty including this one, and it is worth more than any badge on this page. The full checklist.

Disclosures

  • ProLend holds three separate statuses: founding organisational member, Founding Gold Partner, and listed organisation with a Verification Pending status. None of the first two confers the third.
  • Editorial decisions are currently made by Wesley Thomson in his capacity as Association editor. He is also Managing Partner of ProLend, and that conflict is disclosed. ProLend has no separate editorial approval or veto, but the Association does not claim full editorial independence during its founding phase.
  • The Association receives no commission, referral fee or payment of any kind for an enquiry, introduction or placement made through ProLend.
  • Partnership tier has no effect on verification status, and cannot be used to obtain one.

Verification record — ProLend

Verified Organisation

Verified as an organisation on 17 September 2026 under methodology version 1.0. The record rests on the checks listed below, each with its source and date: a search of the National Credit Regulator's public register, confirmation of the legal person behind the trading name, examination of the structure of the offshore pathway, a review of the organisation's published material against the disclosure standards, and the founding members' direct operating knowledge of it. That connection is disclosed rather than managed out of sight, the items still open are published rather than omitted, and the decision carries a review date. Membership and partnership are recorded separately and played no part in it: under the constitution a decision influenced by any contribution is void.

Assessment scope

The organisation itself: its legal identity, its role in the transactions it distributes, the regulatory registration of the credit provider behind its local arrangements, the structure of its offshore pathway, and the quality of what it publishes about risk. The assessment does not extend to any individual lending arrangement, to the performance of any product, or to the conduct of individual consultants.

Checked
  • Legal identity. ProLend trades as a sole proprietorship and holds no company registration number; the legal person behind the trading name is its proprietor. Confirmed by the proprietor on 17 September 2026 and published so that a reader knows who they would be contracting with.
  • Regulatory registration of the credit provider behind the local arrangements. BC Funding Solutions (Pty) Ltd, company registration 2007/020914/07, holds credit-provider registration NCRCP11132, final registration date 11 September 2018. Confirmed as Registered on the National Credit Regulator's public register on 17 September 2026.
  • Structure of the offshore pathway. The notes are issued by Quality Group, offshore, in pounds, dollars and euros. An offshore issuer does not hold South African credit-provider registration; that absence is recorded below as not applicable rather than as a gap.
  • Published material. A review of pro-lend.co.za against the Association's disclosure standards found no guaranteed-return language. The site states that returns are not guaranteed and capital is at risk, answers the capital-guarantee question directly on its local-lending page, and publishes the credit provider's registration number there. Three disclosure items were noted and remain open below.
  • Operating history. The founding members attest to direct knowledge of business placed through BC Funding Solutions over a sustained period, and of clients currently holding the offshore notes in pounds, dollars and euros. This criterion rests on the attestation of connected parties, which is disclosed here and in the limitations below.
Not checked
  • Consultant training, assessment and contracting records
  • Client-money and client-data handling, examined independently
  • The route a member of the public would use to complain, and any complaints history
  • A signed undertaking to the Association's code of conduct
  • The offshore issuer's regulatory position in its own jurisdiction
Not applicable to this role
  • A company registration number for ProLend. It trades as a sole proprietorship, so none exists; the proprietor is the legal person.
  • South African credit-provider registration for the offshore issuer. Quality Group issues hard-currency notes offshore and is not a South African credit provider, so the National Credit Act does not apply and no NCRCP number exists or is required.
Open items raised with the organisation
  • The credit provider's NCRCP number appears on the local-lending page but not on the home page, the offshore page or the consultant directory. The disclosure standard asks for it where a prospective client will see it.
  • The offshore page does not carry an explicit statement that capital is not guaranteed, although the local page does.
  • The consultant directory carries no risk statement.

Limitations of this decision

Verification is a record about an organisation on a date. It is not regulatory approval, not an endorsement of any arrangement, and not a guarantee of performance, repayment or the safety of capital. The Association's founding members are connected to this organisation; the decision was taken by the Council on the published criteria and will be re-examined by the Independent Reviewer on appointment. Three disclosure items remain open and are published below.

Verification reduces uncertainty but does not guarantee performance, repayment or capital safety. Every private-lending arrangement must still be evaluated on its own terms.

What this profile does not tell you

Partnership and verification do not guarantee returns or repayment. This profile is a record about an organisation. It says nothing about whether any particular arrangement is suitable for you, what it will pay, or whether the capital comes back — those depend on the borrower, the security, the documents and your own circumstances, and they have to be worked through on their own terms every time.

Educational, not advice

This page explains how something works. It is not financial, legal or tax advice, it takes no account of your circumstances, and nothing here is a recommendation to lend. Private lending places capital at risk.
